MEDIA STATEMENT REGARDING THE USE OF F10 PRODUCTS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL FOGGING TO
COMBAT THE SPREAD OF COVID-19 3 April 2020
HEALTH AND HYGIENE PTY LTD is a South African company, established in 1994 and is situated in
Johannesburg. Health and Hygiene is the sole manufacturer of the F10 Range of hospital grade
disinfectants, antiseptics and veterinary medicines. Production of these products takes place in a
modern GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) internationally audited and accredited facility. The F10
products range conforms to the highest local as well as international standards for efficacy and
safety and are independently assessed by local and international regulatory authorities. Products
are sold into more than 36 countries worldwide.
EFFICACY & SAFETY
The F10 Disinfectant range of products are total spectrum (effective against bacteria, fungi, viruses
and spores). F10SC Disinfectant is ideally suited for fighting micro-organisms that are spread via
droplets as it can be used for aerial as well as surface disinfection. F10SC at a dilution of 1:100 can
be used in the presence of humans and animals through misters, humidifiers, sprayers, HP washers
and electrical/petrol fogging machines (please note that some of these applicators produce a much
reduced droplet size which can be irritating to the respiratory system – in such cases it is advised to
wear a face mask). The products will not cause fumes, irritation, staining or corrosion. No rinsing is
required and the products are completely biodegradable with a zero rating according to EN
standards. Acute toxicity studies complying with current international standard protocols, covering
oral, dermal and inhalation toxicity, eye and dermal irritation, and skin sensitization were recently
done. These are all supervised GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) studies and were carried out using a
non-lethal end point control. The results demonstrated that all in-use concentrations were nontoxic.
FIGHTING COVID-19 WITH F10SC DISINFECTANT
Products containing the F10 core actives can effectively and safely be used to combat Corona Virus
Disease 2019 (abbreviated “COVID-19”). Corona viruses belong to the family Coronaviridae – they
are enveloped viruses which are relatively easily inactivated by F10 Disinfectants and Antiseptic
products. To ensure responsible and practical applications by all end-users, we recommend a
dilution of 1:100 (10 ml /1 l water) of F10SC Disinfectant. Use of this higher than normal
concentration for high level disinfection will reduce the contact time and overcome the effects of
other interfering factors such as dirty conditions and other micro-organisms that may also be
present.
